...International Trade Show for the Coffee, Tea & Cocoa Business at the Hamburg Fair site from 4 to 6 June.
From raw materials to finished product - Global companies exhibit at COTECA Hamburg Coffee in every form, classic teas and cocoa products, modern roasting and processing systems, and services for all aspects of the three industries are on show at COTECA Hamburg, the International Trade Show for the Coffee, Tea & Cocoa Business, from 4 to 6 June. The premiere of this international event will feature more than 100 exhibitors from Germany and abroad at the Hamburg Fair site. They cover the whole bandwidth from storage and processing right through to the final product. Many of them are among the international market leaders in their sector. The three days of COTECA provide a great forum for presentation of products and services, and for cultivating contacts with customers and suppliers. Exhibitors include for example Bernhard Benecke Coffee GmbH & Co., which imports raw coffee from all parts of the world, mainly for industrial users and other large customers. Their subsidiary Rehm & Co., with a tradition going back more than 100 years, also supplies coffee to small and medium sized gourmet coffee roasters. “COTECA is important to us, particularly due to the presence of roasters,” explains Alexander Marcks, one of their traders.
J.J. Darboven, a traditional Hamburg company, is presenting its coffee, tea and cocoa products at COTECA Hamburg, and addressing the current trends and developments in the market. A key area is the organic and FairTrade range, with the coffee product groups Café Intención and Café Verde, with Eilles tea varieties, and with Xocao drinking chocolate. J.J. Darboven intend to highlight social and ecological sustainability as key issues at their stand. The key role of COTECA as the central meeting point of the industry is highlighted by Bent B. Dietrich, Managing Partner of the Hamburg Coffee Company HACOFCO mbH. “Coffee business is global business, with players from all parts of the world. That is why it is so important to maintain contacts and exchange information. COTECA gives the ideal conditions for that.” Similar views are expressed by Dorothee Kunke, Director Business Unit Coffee & Sweetener at Dr. Otto Suwelack Nachf. GmbH & Co. KG, a leading food manufacturer: “We are exhibiting at COTECA Hamburg because it enables us to reach our target groups quickly and efficiently, in compact form. It brings together key market players from all parts of the world, demonstrates current trends, and gives an overview of the development of the market.” Probat-Werke, a solution provider for roasting machines and systems for the coffee and food industries, are showcasing their “Saturn” roasting machine at COTECA Hamburg, with its unique centrifugal technology. Other focal points are their “Basic” drum roaster and the “Probatone” series in-shop roasters. Probat-Werke are also exhibiting a novelty from the automation segment – “Pilot Plant Professional” with a new Data Management System (DMS) and modern visualisation.
Neuhaus Neotec, which belongs to the Reinbek-based company Amandus Kahl GmbH & Co. KG, is a leading manufacturer of machines and plants for coffee processing. Its programme includes green coffee processing centres and coffee roasting plants for small, medium and large capacities. “We will give live demonstrations of our in-shop roaster ‘neoroast’, with a range of different coffee specialities,” says Fritz A. Kahl, Head of Marketing. Worlée NaturProdukte GmbH, a Hamburg based company and leading producer and processor of food raw materials, attaches great importance to exhibiting at COTECA Hamburg. One reason for that, according to Ralf Stüdemann, Product Manager, is the international orientation of the event – “It enables us to present ourselves to an international expert audience, to expand and build on our business relations, and to gain new customers.” Market Grounds are a Hamburg based company presenting a selection of their extensive product range, from the areas of speciality beverages, machines, packaging, accessories and confectionery. The main focus will be on the classic teas of the TE brand – Teahouse Exclusives, and one&only drinking chocolate. They will also present a whole range of new flavoured syrups of the brands Da Vinci Gourmet and 1883 de Philibert Routin. “We see COTECA as a promising, well targeted platform for intensive exchange in the industry,” says Britta Hadjebi, Marketing Manager, “and we expect an interested trade audience.” Rooibos Ltd. from South Africa are one of the world’s leading suppliers of Rooibos tea. Their wide range of products include not only classic Rooibos, but also Green Rooibos, Honeybush Tea, flavoured teas, herbal blends and iced tea. The company also provides a comprehensive service from blending to flavouring and packaging of teas. Aiya Europe, the European representative of Japan’s leading organic tea producer, will also be at COTECA Hamburg. SinAss-Teehandel GmbH & Co. KG from Bremen imports quality teas from all parts of the world, and supplies to the specialist trade. Their range includes the whole bandwidth of teas from white/yellow, green and black to flavoured teas, fruit and herbal teas, to Oolong, Pu-Erh, Lapacho, Mate und Rooibush. “Our goal at COTECA is to enhance the quality awareness of tea drinkers at all levels”, explains Martin Diringshoff, Purchasing/Product Development at SinAss-Teehandel.
J. Müller Weser, a Bremen based company which has served the German coffee and cocoa industries and the international commodity trade for more than 60 years as logistics partner, will also be exhibiting at COTECA. They have their own container pier at the Timber Terminal in the Port of Bremen, giving a direct connection for low-cost handling and storage. They are a licensed warehousing operator for the coffee exchanges ICE Futures U.S. (New York) and NYSE Liffe (London). “At COTECA we will give information on our whole range of services,” says Bernd Riedel, a senior manager in the Coffee and Cocoa Logistics Sector. “That includes logistics from the port of shipping to delivery at the customer’s premises. Thanks to our tri-modal approach, with transport by water, rail and road, we offer our customers sustainable transport and storage logistics” Other exhibitors at COTECA Hamburg include global certifiers such as the Rainforest Alliance, based in New York, USA, and San José, Costa Rica – this independent organisation, established in 1987, certifies coffee, tea and cocoa from sustainable production. And the Netherlands based organisation UTZ Certified will also be there; it has specialised mainly in certification of coffee. COTECA Hamburg, the International Trade Show for the Coffee, Tea & Cocoa Business, is the first trade fair in Europe to cover the entire process chains of all three hot beverage segments, coffee, tea and cocoa from the raw product through to the ready-to-drink beverage. It celebrates its premiere at the Hamburg Fair site from 4 to 6 June, and is to be held every two years. The new trade show will be accompanied by an international conference where leading speakers from Germany and abroad will present the global challenges, opportunities and trends in the three markets. COTECA Hamburg has the concept support of the German Coffee Association. For further information, please visit the website www.coteca-hamburg.com
