...RENEW THEIR COLLABORATION FOR THE NEXT 3 YEARS.
AT “CAFFE’ CULTURE” IN LONDON THE PRESENTATION OF A US$ 20,500.- DONATION Paolo Nadelet, Executive director of CMA group presented a cheque for 20.500 US dollars to Carolyn Fairman, Executive Director of Coffee Kids, the non-profit organization which is dedicated to improving the lives of families living in the coffee farm of Latin America. This sum is derived from the sale of the Astoria Plus 4 You machine in 2009. The collaboration with Coffee Kids goes back to 2007 when Plus4You was launched on the Market for the first time: in fact this machine was to become a sustainable product in all senses, both for its energy saving features and for the economic contribution in favour of social and economic growth in coffee producing countries. During the Caffe Culture show currently being held in London which also sees the launching of the new version of Plus 4 You, CMA Group also announced its commitment to continue collaborating with Coffee Kids also in the next three years. "We are honoured to continue supporting Coffee kids projects also with the new Plus 4y ou. Sales data for the first 6 months of 2010 make us feel optimistic that also next year we shall be able to make an even bigger contribution" said Paolo Nadalet of CMA Group. “We believe that a Company such as ours, which obtains important economic results, has the right to share them with society, by guaranteeing the improvement of living and working conditions of those who are in the most critical areas of the coffee industry. Coffee kids has always demonstrated that it works in a serious and committed way, and that is why we want to continue collaborating with them and we hope that we shall be able to coinvolve also our customers and distributors in their projects. For this we are going to arrange a visit in autumn to some of the Coffee Kids projects in Latin America hoping to divulge, with our testimony the importance of the social commitment of companies such as ours to help so many families who work and live in plantations."
Carolyn Fairman commented on the precious support of CMA group which is already part of the gold circle of sponsors and may, with this year's contribution, become part of the Patron Circle of sponsors. The sponsorship started in December 2006 and has so far contributed over $45,000. If we consider that $50 is sufficient to help a woman start her own business in the plantations it means that CMA has contributed towards making the life of over 900 families slightly easier. Just $25 provides a woman in Guatemala with training in basic health care and hygiene; $750 builds a greenhouse for growing fresh vegetables; $1,500 provides10 high school scholarships in Costa Rica.
Carolyn recognised CMA's contribution and strong commitment to the sustainability projects of Coffee Kids which amounted to $700-800,000 in 2010 and aiming at $1,000,000 in the short term. Originally with 5 partners in 2000 and less $100,000 contributions there are now 15 sponsors contributing towards Coffee Kids with the key words of integrity with no compromise on the methodology. To conclude the Press Conference, Flavio Urizzi, Export Manager of CMA of the UK, also mentioned the surprise presentation of a small Astoria Distributor from Austria, the Thurner Company, who donated €1,000 which was collected in a very original way: Herr Thurner visited various Austrian exhibitions with his Fiat Cinquecento on which he has installed a Plus4You, offering free coffee in exchange for a donation to Coffee Kids.
